Castle – Season 4 Episode 9 ‘Kill Shot’ LIVE Recap – Castle and Beckett’s Future Will Be Altered

Castle is back tonight with an all new episode titled “Kill Shot”. Did you see the last episode “Heartbreak Hotel”? If not, you can read our full recap HERE.

This evening a sniper goes on a murder rampage in the city and police struggle to find a motive before time runs out and another victim is killed. Meanwhile, Becket’s PTSD symptoms are escalating, even though she tries to hide it from the rest of the team, she’s panicking during key moments and uncharacteristically turns to alcohol to numb the pain.

In tonight’s episode Becket realizes she’s no ‘superwoman’, it’s ok to have flaws and she needs to put closure to her mother’s unsolved murder. The most interesting part of tonight will be in the final scene which will take Castle and Becket’s relationship to an altered state. Will it be for the good? Will Becket confess her love for Castle? Here’s our recap:

The show starts with these two woman waking on the street just leaving a yoga class when one of them all of a sudden gets shot straight to the heart and hits the ground, her name is Sara. Castle and Becket are on the scene and meet up with Esposito, clearly Becket is disturbed when she finds out it was a sniper shooting.  Sara’s yoga class was common knowledge, she had it posted on her Facebook. The bullet was from a long range sniper, 200 – 300 yards away. Sara was being followed by a man, she made a few complaints in the days before she died to her fiancé.

Back at Beckett’s house, she’s looking at her bullet wound and remembering when she got shot.

Everyone thinks the shooter knew Sara but Castle thinks it may be random. The word ‘sniper’ brings back bad memories for Becket.

The sniper targets people on the street and pulls the trigger, there is another victim, this time it is a guy and it is the same caliber as the previous murder. At the scene of the new shooting, a siren goes off and Becket falls down – she is not ok, she is having issues because of her having being shot herself by a sniper a long time ago.

Captain Gates is meeting about the sniper and Castle is trying to make Beckett feel better about her response. Beckett tells Gates that they don’t have any connections between the victims.

Becket visits her therapist and he tells her that she has PTSD and she is going to have to get through it or drop this case. She says she doesn’t have time to get all weepy, she wants a pill to take the edge off but ends up leaving with nothing.

Castle is surprised at Becket’s attitude, he’s never seen her like this before. Becket wants to remain on the case, no matter how this one is getting on her. She meets back up with Castle after he and Esposito go to the crime scene take another look around, the sniper left behind a shell casing on the floor, the shell casings had a print on them, they have a lead.

Castle and Becket interrogate the guy whose fingerprint was on the shell casing, his name is Marcus Forbes. Becket really lays into him but he doesn’t break. Esposito tells Becket that he’s not their guy.

Beckett is looking over the wall with the victims’ info on it and she’s having flashbacks about her own shooting. Castle shows her the paper doll that was found at the crime scene.

Becket keeps playing everything back in her mind, the whole case is really getting to her. Wyatt calls, he found the building where Sara was shot from. Esposito finds some mole skin, it might have DNA in it.

Castle figures out what the doll cut outs that the killer is leaving behind means with a little help from  his daughter. They are all clues about where the sniper is going to hit next.

The sniper is at it again and this time Becket completely loses it, she is spinning out of control and her ability to cope. Castle tells Esposito that she should be taken off of the case.

Esposito calls Becket into the evidence room and shows her the sniper gun that actually shot it, this is his way of trying to make her cope with her PTDS, he tells her to stop making it a weakness, make it a strength. Esposito holds out the gun for her to take, she puts her hands on it and starts to cry – he leaves her there.

The new victim has no connection to the other two, but she was being followed. On surveillance camera they watch the sniper, Castle recognizes that he has a coffee cup and it is from a coffee shop near where the newest victim, Emily, worked. The coffee shop could be the key, it appears it may have been the place where the sniper chooses his victims. Meanwhile, Becket is gone up to the roof with her sniper gun to try and figure out the case.

Esposito and Castle are at the cafe asking questions, Castle looks around at everyone and figures out it is not the coffee shop. Castle figures out that all the victims have had recent successes, he picks one of them out and he makes them pay. Becket walks in and tells them that he didn’t shoot from the roof, he has a physical disability. The cafe owners says there is a homeless guy who comes into the shop that has a prosthetic leg. It doesn’t take them long to figure out who this guy is. They track his sister down and she doesn’t look surprised, she says that he is an angry guy; he recently lost his apartment but she didn’t ask him to move in because she didn’t want him around her kids.

Uniforms just found the place where Emily was shot from, Castle and Becket head over and they start looking for the paper doll to figure out where he is going to strike next, Castle finds it. It is actually a lot more than one paper doll, it is about 10 to 15, he is planning a massive shooting this time.

Gates wants everyone on tactical alert, Castle runs in and tells them he has figured out where the sniper is going to shoot next, Central Park. Becket heads out and calls Castle to go with her but he opts to stay back. Castle stays with Gates, Ryan comes in and tells them there a lot of events going on there today and Castle figures that the sniper will attack a group of kids that are arriving by bus for an event at the park since their school is near the coffee shop.

Ryan is trying to get through to the bus, but with all the noise from the kids inside along with drivers phone being covered up, he doesn’t get in contact with them. Becket’s best chance to foil the sniper’s attempt, is to stop him herself. She finds him but he knows she is there, hits her and takes away her gun. Becket tells him to put away the gun, but the shooter, Lee, tells her that they are getting what they deserve. He goes on to tell her that his life sucks and she tells him about her gun shot, trying to relate to him and talk him out of shooting her. He yells at her to turn around so he can shoot her and she refuses, she tells him to look her in the eye and shoot her. He goes to pull the trigger and lucky for her, Esposito shoots him.

Becket meets back up with Castle and she thanks him for not pushing her, for giving her the space to get through this. Back with her therapist, Becket tells him that even now that the case is closed, she still has a problem with the night her mom was killed, it has defined her. Now, she wants to be more than who she is, but she doesn’t know if she knows how to do that without letting her mom down. Her therapist explains that her mom’s death is a part of her and she is going to have to deal with that, Becket asks how does she let go. The question really is, is Becket ready to let go and she tells her therapist that she is ready.
