E! News correspondent Giuliana Rancic graces the Jan/Feb 2012 cover of Michigan Ave Magazine. After trying to get pregnant via in vitro-fertilization, Giuliana and her husband Bill Rancic learned just 3 months ago that Giuliana had breast cancer. Baby plans were sadly put on hold, and the couple was faced with another battle.
Rather than having to worry about the cancer reoccurring, Giuliana decided to undergo the mastectomy after lumpectomies failed to eliminate the cancer. Faced with a hard decision, Giuliana said, “My breast have never defined me – and they never will”.
In the magazine Giuliana talks to them about her recovery from cancer:
“Do you realize that if we had gotten pregnant, I would have been done? That would have catapulted this cancer into another level. By the time I was 40 or 41, I’m scared to think about what they would have told me. I now know the reason why I wasn’t ever supposed to get pregnant. People come up and they have sadness in their eyes, and I think, at a time when everyone’s looking at me with pity, I look at myself as lucky. I think I just dodged the biggest bullet of my life.”
