Katy Perry‘s former lover, Travie McCoy has has been comforting her following her split from Russell Brand.

Russell filed for divorce from Katy at the end of December after only 14 months of marriage and Katy has run back to her ex-boyfriend Travie, the lead singer for Gym Class Heroes. Katy and Travie began dating in 2008 after she appeared in the video for his band’s song Cupid’s Chokehold, but split up in 2009.

Travie told the Daily Mirror:  “There will always be a connection between us, I’ll always be there for her.  When you’ve been in a relationship like ours, you will always make time for that person. Katy was there for me through my hard times when things were really bad.”

“Life goes on, I have regrets about the way things ended but there are no grudges anymore. I’ll always be there for her, she knows that.   Do I think she got married to Russell too fast? When you’re feeling it, you’re feeling it. You can’t help how you feel.”
