Defending your actions now? We’re not surprised after the response he received. By now, you’re probably aware of what went down last week after a video surfaced online which showed Will Smith slapping a Ukrainian reporter after he kissed Will during the Men in Black 3 premiere in Moscow.

Smith was certainly not amused by it; he shoved the reporter and gave him a little slap before moving on to another journalist, laughing it off while telling his assistant “he’s lucky I didn’t sucker punch him.” It shouldn’t have been a shock when David Letterman questioned Will on what really happened that day and how it went down because the video didn’t clearly show on what happened before the kiss.

So, as Letterman asks what went down that day, Will says: “I didn’t beat up a guy! We’re doing an interview and he says, ‘I’m your biggest fan, can I have a hug?’ So I go to give this joker a hug, and he tries to lean in and kiss me! It’s just awkward. They were saying, ‘We’re sorry, that’s just his schtick’. Well that’s why his ass got schtuck.”
