Since marrying Prince William last year, Kate Middleton has already become a style icon in her own right. Earlier this week the Duchess stepped out in a stunning Emilia Wickstead yellow coat dress that really turned the heads’ of Royal watchers near and far. Kate wore the dress to mark a very special occasion, the Order of the Thistle Ceremony held at St Giles Cathedral in Edinburgh.
What exactly is that you ask? Well, the ancient Order of the Thistle can only be bestowed by the Queen herself. There are currently 16 knights in the order, including Prince William’s grandfather, Prince Phillip, his father, Prince Charles, and his aunt, the Princess Royal. The short ceremony occurred on day four of the Queen’s Jubilee in Scotland. Before bestowing the honor on her grandson she stated,
“It is our pleasure that his Royal Highness the Prince William, Earl of Strathearn, be installed a Knight of the most ancient and most noble Order of the Thistle.” His response to the queen, “I shall maintain the honor and dignity of the most ancient and most noble Order of the Thistle to the best power if God let. I shall never bear treason about in my heart against our Sovereign Lady the Queen, but shall discover the same to her. So defend me God.”
A parade led by 400 pipers followed the ceremony down The Royal Mile and afterwards William joined his stunning wife to celebrate a bit more. This couple always seems so happy to be together, no matter the occasion. Kate looks just as cheery in workout gear as she does in a dress like this stunner.
