Brooks Ayers is widely disliked by the ladies of The Real Housewives of OC in spite of his girlfriend, Vicki Gunvalson’s unwavering support.   ABC’s 20/20 featured Brooks in a special that portrayed him as a deadbeat dad and he has swung back threatening to sue the network if they don’t retract the comments made about him.  He is fighting with ex-girlfriend, Nicolette Catanzarite, over their three year old son.  She claims that he ran out on his son and refuses to help with his mounting medical bills.  Radar Online has more details.

“While we have not filed a lawsuit yet, we have written to ABC demanding a retraction and informed them that the threat of the lawsuit exists and we are currently in discussions with them,” Ayers’ attorney, Alexander Rufus-Isaacs of Rufus-Isaacs, Acland & Grantham told RadarOnline.com in an exclusive interview.  “The most damaging aspect was the program accusing him of running out on his child, which is absolutely false,” he explained.

Of course Brooks is tossing some mud back at his ex saying that it’s her fault he never sees his son.

 “Brooks is very close with his three children from his marriage, and he is very keen to have a relationship with his son, but Nicolette won’t allow him access for the time being,” he explained. “She has said she doesn’t know how to get hold of him, which is not true. She traveled to California in January 2012 and met with Brooks and Vicki, since then he has had the same cell phone number and the same e-mail, so there is no credence to these claims that he disappeared on her.  They have a dispute and it should have remained private. It was wrong of her to go public and smear his reputation,” he told Radar.

If it’s true that Brooks wants a relationship with his son, why is he leaving it in his ex’s hands?  Why not go through the court to set up visitation with the boy?  He can’t want to see him too badly and it sounds like her not chasing after him is a convenient excuse for him to dodge his responsibility.
