Katie Couric Reveals Her One Big Regret

I attended BlogHer’12 earlier this month in New York and was fortunate to see Katie Couric, as she was one of the featured keynote speakers for the event. Our friends at Celeb Dirty Laundry were at the conference with us, you can view Katie’s BlogHer’12 interview here posted by CDL.

Katie not only shared with BlogHers her amazing new talkshow which debuts September 10th, 2012, she also shared the fact that there would be room on each and every show for bloggers. Katie owned the stage, at 55 she looks amazing and how does she do it? Katie says, “I started spinning and I really love it, and we sometimes do arm exercises…I don’t lift weights.” Spinning is stationary cycling and I do the same thing at home, but I can’t brag that I look like Katie, she looked simply fabulous!

Katie also shared her “non” diet secret, she said “I don’t diet. I think diets make you fat. If you’re like me, I eat one cookie and then I think, I blew it, so then I eat 12 more. No! So with Weight Watchers, I can eat one and put [it] in this column because I know I get 49 more points!”.  Awesome, Weight Watchers is certainly one of the biggest names in weight loss, Jennifer Hudson and Jenny McCarthy have also lost their fair share with the weight loss gurus.

In September, Katie covers Good Housekeeping magazine where she discusses poignant life changes and her one big regret, here are a few highlights:

On her age:

“Being in the last half of your life is very scary. Turning 55 was more of a wake-up call on that front for me than 50 was.”

On not being able to have more children:

“I have total child lust when I see little kids. I think emotionally and psychologically it’s weird to feel like, gosh my childbearing years are over. And of course they’ve been over for a long time, but still, they’re officially over now. It’s kind of a head trip, to tell you the truth. I love being around my kids. I’m not a particularly solitary person. I like a big, chaotic household — noise, commotion, laughter!. Sometimes I think I should have had six kids. Or I wish I’d had one [more] at 37, but I was busy. My career.”

On keeping fit and spinning:

“I’ve always done exercise, but I’ve never really committed to it, I’m not very good about pushing myself physically. I like it (spinning) because for 45 minutes you just have to keep going. Even if you don’t go at the same speed as your neighbors, or you’re not, you know, Lance Armstrong in drag, it’s just intense exercise.”
