18-year old, American Idol champ Scotty Mccreery has made US chart history by becoming the first country artist to debut an album at number one on the Billboard 200 chart. Mcreery, who turned eighteen a few days ago, is also the youngest male artist to enter the countdown at the top with a debut.

MCCreery’s new album Clear as Day has opened with 197,000 sales, making him the first American Idol winner since 2003 to hit number one with their first release.

Drake Ties Record For Most Number One Billboard Rap Songs

A record that’s been set in stone since 2003 has just recently been tied; and I’m sure is soon to be broken by the hip-hop prodgy himself Drake. The more questionable aspect of this record breaking cirucmstance is, who’s record did Drizzy just tie? If I had to guess at it, seeing how the title is for most “Rap” number ones, I’d go with someone along the lines of Eminem or Jay-Z.

Both of those artists have been around for years, and coincidentally both of those artists have been putting out underground and mainstream records. Lots of radio hits have been produced by both of these artists, and the record sales that their albums do (even with the use of online piracy) are still pretty high. But if you were trying to pin-point the man who really did it, I think you’d be off by a landslide.

This is the same guy who Forbes predicted to be hip-hops first billionaire a couple weeks back, that’s right, it’s Diddy. Surprised? I know I was. The thing is, when someone asks you a question like “Who holds the record for most number one rap songs?” you start thinking of the people you hear all over the radio and TV. Diddy may not have been the man of the hour on all the songs that made number one, but he was a part of the finished product.

Since his buzz a couple years back, Aubrey Drake Graham has put out hit after hit; in the past 3 years he has been a part of just as many number one billboard rap songs as Diddy did in 7 years.
